2012 Updates
Updates from Taylor & Williams
This month, we are covering a few different updates all in one shot:
1 - Good start to 2012: 2012 has started well. All of our models were positive in January and are up in February as well (through the 14th).
2 - New Advisor: Byron Poore is joining Taylor & Williams as our newest Investment Advisor Representative. He was previously an advisor with Wells Fargo. Byron and I have known each other for a couple years now and always enjoyed meeting every few months and sharing investment and planning thoughts. I believe Byron joining the firm will be a real positive for both his clients following him here and you, our current clients as well. He, his wife Jennifer, and daughter Selah live in Land O Lakes. You can read his bio on our web site HERE.
3 - New Allocations: With the new year, we have made some small but significant allocation changes. You can see the actual list of holdings and allocation percentages HERE on our web site. These changes include a couple new asset catagories, Real Estate and Commodities, plus expand the Non-US Stock and Bond holdings. With the tough investment years of 2008, 09, and 11, we researched for ways we could better protect in down periods. That research lead us away from the ongoing “tweaking” and attempting to predict what will happen towards a fixed allocation that we rebalance to.
4 - Tax information: Schwab’s 1099 tax forms are being sent out now. There are some changes this year to the reporting for taxable accounts (not IRA or tax deffered). In the past, Schwab has only included on the 1099 the proceeds from investment sales. Our Realized Gain/Loss report was needed to show the cost basis and captial gain of those sales. This year, Schwab is including the cost basis on the 1099 to you, but not to the IRS. We spent time at the end of last year giving Schwab our cost basis information to ensure accuracy. You will not be receiving the report from us. If you have any questions about this or need the Management Fee report, please call or email. Clients that have on line access to Schwab can view their 1099 by logging into Schwab HERE.
Thanks for allowing us to serve. Feel free to pass this along to anyone you think would benefit.
